NOTICE OF VACANCY

POSITION:   REGISTERED NURSE 
                   Seniors Mental Health
                   Casual position with Temporary Regular Part-Time Assignment

REPORTS TO:  Program Director, Mental Health Services

DATE REQUIRED:  As soon as possible

SALARY:   $29.36 to $42.44 per hour

QUALIFICATIONS:  
-  Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
-  A minimum of five years current progressive clinical mental health experience in a health care and community based setting is required along with a strong desire to work with the geriatric population.
-  A minimum of 3 years experience in responding to mental health crisis situations with the elderly in the community and hospital setting.
-  Certification in Gentle Persuasion and Me First modality of care, or willing to obtain.
-  Certification in CBT for depression in Elderly or willing to obtain.
-  Completion of a crisis intervention certificate program or equivalent experience and education.
-  Current basic CPR.

ABILITIES: 
-  Well-developed skills in assessment, service coordination, counselling, group facilitation, problem solving and public education.
-  Demonstrated knowledge and competence in the application of treatment modalities to support individuals with serious mental illness.
-  Knowledge of mental health reform and values, principles of recovery, Mental Health Act, PHIPPA, Health Care Consent Act and Public Hospitals Act.
-  Demonstrated ability to independently conduct formal mental health assessment, crisis counselling and mental health therapies.
-  Personal transportation and hold a valid Ontario driver’s license and auto endorsement insurance.
-  Availability to work days, evenings and weekends.
