NOTICE OF VACANCY

POSITION:   REGISTERED PRACTICAL NURSE
                   – In-Patient Psychiatry
                   Casual Position with a Temporary Regular Part-Time Assignment

REPORTS TO:  Program Director, Mental Health

DATE REQUIRED:  As Soon As Possible

SALARY:   $24.63 to $26.13 per hour

REQUIREMENTS: 
Current Registration and Certificate of Competence with the College of Nurses of Ontario
Certificate in all nursing skills required by the Department of Nursing in the assigned unit.
Medication Administration
Minimum of two (2) years psychiatric nursing experience.
Demonstrated skill at handling suicidal and aggressive, potentially volatile situations.
IV drug administration
Insertion of Gastric tubes
Flushing of PRN adaptors
Subcutaneous portal insertion and drug administration
Good communication skills. 
Ability to plan, organize and problem solve.
Demonstrated commitment to ongoing continuing education.
Able to meet the physical demands of the position.
Working knowledge of Meditech Information System and personal computer applications.
