NOTICE OF TEMPORARY VACANCY
(pursuant to article 2.01, of the CUPE Collective Agreement)


POSITION:   LABORATORY SUPPORT I – Core Lab
                      Primary Site: Stratford   
                     Temporary Part-Time Position
(initial assignment for 6 months with a 6 month extension to be requested)
                     (Shifts: days, evenings, nights, 7 days per week)

POSITION SUMMARY: Under supervision of the Charge Technologist, the Laboratory Support I performs venous and capillary collection on patients and provides support services to the laboratory.

REPORTS TO:  HPHA Laboratory Manager

DATE REQUIRED:  September 2014


SALARY:   $22.74 to $24.11 per hour


QUALIFICATIONS:  
Medical Laboratory Assistant/Technician Certification or qualifications deemed equivalent
Must possess OSMT and/or CSMLS Lab Assistant Certification

EXPERIENCE:  
Recent related experience in a similar setting preferred.


ABILITIES:
Familiar with phlebotomy techniques.
Familiar with all types of blood collection.
Computer literate.
Organized and self directed.
Works well under supervision and with others.
Good communication skills.
