Your blood type determines who you can donate to, or receive blood from. People with type O negative (O-) are considered universal donors, as they can donate red blood cells to all other blood type recipients. That’s why it’s always in high demand — it’s used in emergency situations when there is no time to test a patient’s blood type. Source: Canadian Blood Services

Family Involvement

Family is defined by the patient and is not restricted to relatives.

We support families' participation in patients' recovery and treatment. A meeting with family members and the healthcare team will be arranged when necessary.

It is recommended that you identify one individual to serve as the primary contact or spokesperson for your family. Appointing a spokesperson ensures that all members of the family receive the same information.
