Breastmilk is the natural food for babies. It contains everything your baby needs. Health Canada recommends feeding your baby only breastmilk for the first six months. At six months, begin to introduce solid foods and continue breastfeeding for up to two years and beyond.
Please note that breastfeeding moms can call at any time, day or night, to receive support from the staff on the Maternal Child Unit. Nursing staff will accommodate questions and can be reached at 519-272-8232 or toll free 1-888-275-1102 extension 8232.
A Registered Nurse with Lactation Consultant certification will answer your questions, help you get started, support you through challenges, and encourage you to continue to breastfeed your baby.
