Prenatal Classes

Prenatal classes are offered by Huron Perth Public Health and the Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance (HPHA).  These classes are ideal for expectant parents in the last half of their pregnancy.  The class series includes two parts:

Part 1 (Free)

Part 1 of the prenatal education is offered as a 1-day intensive workshop or spread out one night per week for three weeks. Offered in Stratford or Listowel

Topics:

  • Key steps to a positive childbirth experience
  • Techniques for comfort and coping with labour pain
  • The partner's role in labour: a toolbox of strategies
  • Preparing for parenting: starting off strong
  • Bringing baby home: newborn 101
  • Breastfeeding basics: from birth and beyond

To register:

Part 2 ($30.00)

One Saturday class at HPHA - Stratford General Hospital on the Maternal Child Unit which is located in the East Building, Level 2.

Topics:

  • The process of labour: helping you prepare
  • Giving birth at the hospital: what you can expect, and labour and delivery room tour
  • Making an informed decision about routine and non-routine medical procedures
  • Pain medication options for labour
  • Recovering from childbirth
  • Your newborn in the first few days.

Please note: Listowel deliveries are welcome to attend.
