The Excellent Care for All Act (ECFAA) puts patients first by improving the quality and value of the patient experience through the application of evidence-based health care. The ECFAA also requires that all
Ontario hospitals have a patient relations process, and make information about that process available to the public.
Why patient relations is important?
"A well-established patient relations structure and process, supported by the right personnel, is key to identifying gaps between patient expectations and experiences of care, and managing perceptions of patient expectations and quality of care (Gilly et al, 1991)."
At the Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance, patient feedback is extremely important to us as it provides an opportunity to improve the care we are providing. This feedback includes compliments, inquiries, suggestions and complaints regarding the services which we provide. We encourage and invite all patients, their families and care givers to provide feedback on the care we have provided. All of the feedback we receive is reviewed and used as a part of the quality improvement process.
