Inpatient Mental Health Unit

The Mental Health Inpatient Unit provides a safe environment for short-term, acute treatment to help people become stable.  Staff will monitor medications, provide short-term counseling, complete discharge planning and make referrals to appropriate supports in the community.

Stratford General Hospital is a Schedule I facility with 15 adult psychiatric beds.  This unit offers an interdisciplinary team approach with active participation by the patient.

In keeping with the values of the Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance the care that we provide to clients admitted to the inpatient mental health unit will demonstrate Compassion, Accountability and Integrity.

Upon admission patients and their families will be provided with guides to the Inpatient Mental Health Unit.  These guides provide information on the following topics:

  • Admissions Process
  • Hand Hygiene
  • Meal Schedules & Nutrition Breaks
  • Unit Passes
  • Visitors
  • Safety
  • Use of Hospital Facilities
  • Important phone numbers and key contacts

These guides can also be viewed online.

Our HPHA Patient & Family Guidebook may also be of interest.
