Material Management

Material Management (MM), also known as Supply Chain Management (SCM) is a functional centre that coordinates the acquisition of supplies and services for HPHA. MM is comprised of:

  • Purchasing
  • Receiving
  • Distribution
  • Shipping
  • Inventory Control
  • Accounts Payable

HPHA is a very active participant in HealthPro, a national Group Purchasing Organization (GPO). This participation supports best value practices and standardization across all four hospital sites. HPHA also participates in the St. Joseph’s Health Care System Capital Equipment Program, focused on obtaining best value on equipment requirements. To support equipment maintenance and Preventative Maintenance (PM) programs, HPHA is an active participant in the Canadian Medical Equipment Protection Plan (CMEPP), a not-for-profit organization that pools equipment from hospitals across Canada in their Plan, with the goal to reduce repair risks and costs for all of its members. HPHA is able retain the flexibility of identifying the vendor of choice to perform the equipment maintenance.
