Animals

Visits by a patient's personal cat or dog are limited to inpatients and may be considered for therapeutic and/or compassionate reasons. The Program Director/Manager or delegate will determine if a patient's dog or cat should be permitted to visit and such visits must be pre-arranged.

The pet must be the patient's personal pet; at least one year of age; well groomed, clean, housetrained, immunized and well tempered. If the patient has more than one pet, only one animal at a time may visit. The animal is only permitted to visit the specific patient and for up to one hour at a time but not during meal times.

The use of service animals shall be permitted except where their presence represents a potential safety concern or risk.
