Our hospital is participating in
Ontario’s Just Clean Your Hands program.
It is part of a world-wide effort to encourage health care providers to clean their hands.
Clean hands are one of the best ways to stop the spread of germs that can cause infection and illness.
Clean hands are important everywhere, but they are particularly important in a hospital. When you are ill or have an operation, your body is weaker and it’s harder for you to fight infections. When health care providers clean their hands the right way at the right times, they can help prevent the spread of some germs that cause infection.
At HPHA, we have put alcohol-based hand sanitizers close to where health care providers care for patients. This makes it very convenient for staff to wash their hands prior to giving patient care.
Hand sanitizers are also found at each patient’s bedside. It is important that all patients wash their hands when leaving their room to go to other departments within the facility. Examples of that would be going to the physiotherapy or x-ray department.
We have also placed hand sanitizers at the entrance to the hospital as well as the entrance to patient care areas. All visitors to our facilities are asked to please, wash their hands as they enter and exit the hospital as this will also help to stop the spread of germs to our patients.
You are in safe hands. Everyone in our hospitals are committed to providing clean, safe care. Our goal is to keep you from getting an infection in a hospital and send you home as healthy as possible.
