BLOOD DONOR CLINIC
Volunteers assist the Canadian Blood Services staff at the once-per-month donor clinic by meeting and greeting, serving small snacks to, and interacting with donors.
CHEMOTHERAPY CLINIC
Volunteers aid the Chemotherapy Clinic staff by offering emotional support and assistance to patients receiving chemotherapy treatment, and their families.
COMPLEX CONTINUNING CARE / REHABILITATION PROGRAM
Volunteers aid the Complex Continuing Care and Rehab Program staff in assisting inpatients with their rehabilitation programs through therapeutic activities such as: conversation, recreation, rehabilitation and social activities. Volunteers also assist patients with daily chores, including: feeding, grooming, writing letters, and reading. Activities also include meeting patients at their room and preparing program materials.
COFFEE SHOP
Volunteers assist the Auxiliary in raising funds for its commitment to the Hospital’s Foundation for ongoing capital equipment projects, through selling light refreshments in an onsite shop to Hospital visitors and staff.
DAY SURGERY PROGRAM
Volunteers aid the Day Surgery Clinic staff in meeting arriving patients and their families. Activities include meeting/greeting patients and their families, ensuring that the patients are at the correct Department, directing patients to the waiting area, ensuring that the registration documentation is correctly delivered, and offering information about the site.
EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT
Volunteers aid the Emergency Department staff in assisting patients and their families. Activities include meeting/greeting patients and their families, ensuring that the patients are at the correct Department, directing patients to the reception, and to the waiting area, and offering information about the site.
G.A.G.S. (Giggle And Get well Service) PROGRAM
The G.A.G.S. (Giggle And Get well Service) program volunteers, through the use of humour as presented by clowns, offer emotional support and the reduction of anxiety to patients, families, and staff. Through scheduled visits and upon request, clowns interact for short periods in various longer term and rehabilitation services Departments. Comprehensive training programs are held for prospective volunteers.

Volunteers assist raising funds for its commitment to the Hospital’s Foundation for ongoing capital equipment projects, through selling gifts and crafts in an onsite shop to Hospital visitors and staff.

H.E.L.P.P. LOTTERY
Volunteers assist raising funds for its commitment to the Hospital’s Foundation for ongoing capital equipment projects, through selling instant tear away lottery tickets at a kiosk in the Hospital’s foyer.
INFORMATION DESK
Volunteers greet arrivals to the Hospital; offering information about, directions, or an escort to rooms or Departments within the Hospital; as well as offering directions about, and assistance with departing the facility. The Information Desk Volunteers support the Hospital’s infection control procedures by encouraging arriving patients and visitors to wash their hands.
LABORATORY DEPARTMENT
Volunteers aid the Laboratory Department staff in assisting arriving patients with the process of registering for their tests. Activities include meeting/greeting patients upon arrival, ensuring that the patients are at the correct Department, handing out registration sequence numbers, directing patients to the waiting area; and offering information about the site, and directions when departing the facility.
LEISURE AND RECREATION REHABILITATIVE PROGRAM
Volunteers aid the Recreation Rehab Program staff in assisting both inpatients and outpatients with their rehabilitation programs through leisure and recreational activities, horticulture, and crafts. Activities include meeting patients at the Hospital’s entrance, or their room; preparing program materials, and assisting patients as required with the activities.
IMAGING DEPARTMENT
Volunteers aid the Medical Imaging Department staff in assisting patients with the process of their examinations. Activities include meeting/greeting patients; directing patients to the registration and waiting areas; and offering directions or an escort to other Departments, and when departing the facility.
MENTAL HEALTH DEPARTMENT
Volunteers aid the Mental Health Department staff by offering emotional support and friendship to patients. Activities include conversation, reading, playing games and walking about the complex. A comprehensive training program is held for prospective volunteers.
ONTARIO BREAST SCREENING PROGRAM
Volunteers aid the Medical Imaging Department staff by offering emotional support and assistance to clients receiving breast screening tests.
ORTHOPEDIC CLINIC
Volunteers aid the Orthopedic Clinic staff in assisting patients with the process for their consultations. Activities include meeting/greeting patients; directing patients to the registration, waiting and interview areas; ensuring that the registration documentation is correctly delivered; and offering directions about the site, and when departing the facility.
PALLIATIVE CARE PROGRAM
Volunteers aid the Palliative Care Program staff by offering emotional support and friendship to very ill patients, and their families. Activities include conversation; and as required, assistance with daily chores such as feeding, grooming, writing letters, and reading. A comprehensive training program is held for prospective volunteers.
PATIENT GREETER – INFECTION CONTROL
Volunteers greet arrivals to the Hospital; offering information about, directions, or an escort to rooms or Departments within the Hospital. The Patient Greeter and Escort Volunteers are the first line in reminding arrivals about the Hospital’s infection control procedures which include hand washing.

PATIENT REGISTRATION DEPARTMENT
Volunteers aid the Patient Registration Department staff in assisting arriving patients with the process of registering for their surgical procedures, and proceeding to the Surgical Department. Activities include meeting/greeting patients and their families upon arrival at the Department; ensuring that the patients are at the correct Department, escorting patients to the surgical waiting areas, ensuring that the registration documentation is correctly delivered; and offering directions about the site, and when departing the facility.
SURGICAL AMBULATORY CARE PROGRAM
Volunteers aid the Surgical Ambulatory Care Program staff in assisting arriving patients with the process of registering for their surgical procedures. Activities include meeting/greeting patients and their families upon arrival at the Department; ensuring that the patients are at the correct Department, escorting patients to the surgical waiting area, ensuring that the registration documentation is correctly delivered; and offering patients and guests directions about the site, and when departing the facility.
VOLUNTEER SERVICES DEPARTMENT
Volunteer Services Assistant Volunteers assist the Volunteer Services Coordinator with administrative activities, volunteer training and mentoring, presentations and events; as well as program and volunteer assignment development.

High School Students, as Volunteens, aid the Volunteer Services Coordinator in providing assistance to the Hospital’s Departments, staff and volunteers on a short term after school community service program.
