Your blood type determines who you can donate to, or receive blood from. People with type O negative (O-) are considered universal donors, as they can donate red blood cells to all other blood type recipients. That’s why it’s always in high demand — it’s used in emergency situations when there is no time to test a patient’s blood type. Source: Canadian Blood Services

Message from the President & CEO

On behalf of our Physicians, Staff, Students and Volunteers, welcome to the website of the Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance (HPHA).  I invite you to browse through the site in order to familiarize yourself with what you can expect during your stay or visit to any of the HPHA hospital sites.  Our website also provides you with a wealth of information about the HPHA including, but not limited to:

At HPHA we pride ourselves on providing each patient with the very best of care – effective, efficient and compassionate care delivered by physicians, nurses and other caregivers. We continue to build a culture where patients and families have a voice in their care, and each and every staff member takes responsibility and active steps to enhance the patient's experience.

In the spirit of continuous improvement I would encourage you to share your patient experiences, concerns and ideas to make our hospitals even better. You can do this by completing our patient & family experience survey or you are also welcome to contact me directly, either by phone at 519-272-8202 or cell phone at 519-274-0021, via e-mail at andrew.williams@hpha.ca, or, directly in my office.
