COVID-19 Outbreak Over at Stratford General Hospital

January 19, 2022

An outbreak of COVID-19 at the Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance (HPHA) – Stratford General Hospital has been declared over by Huron Perth Public Health. The outbreak had been declared on the Inpatient Surgery Unit on January 7, 2022 after two cases of the virus were identified.

“Upon declaring the outbreak, immediate precautions were implemented, including prevalence testing in team members and patients,” says Andrew Williams, President & CEO.

In total, three patients acquired the virus while in hospital, along with eight team members.

As there have been no further cases, the Inpatient Surgery Unit has been reopened to admissions and transfers. Family and Caregiver Presence on the Unit has also been restored.

“While this outbreak is over, we can’t stress enough the importance of getting your COVID-19 vaccine and continuing to follow public health measures,” adds Williams.

Appreciation is extended to our team and regional partners. Thank you for your dedication to safe and compassionate care. Appreciation is also extended to our community for your support of our outbreak measures.
