It is especially helpful if patients arriving at the Emergency Department bring an updated list of all current medication they are taking. This list should include: prescription medications, over-the-counter medications and vitamins, herbs and any supplements.

January 22, 2019

HPHA is lucky to have approximately 500 volunteers who give their time and talents to our organization! Not only do volunteers support and complement the work of our professional staff, they also provide hospitality, governance and fundraising services. From the Board Room to the Bedside each of our Volunteers makes a difference to the HPHA experience!

Joanne - St. Marys Memorial Hospital

How long have you volunteered at HPHA?

I have been a volunteer for 18 years.

What programs do you volunteer for?

I volunteer at the Boutique (Gift Shop), at one time I was the buyer and also used to do the schedules. I also volunteer for a number of special events including BINGO, bake sales, bazaars and heritage days.

What is involved in your volunteer role?

I provide customer service at the Gift Shop on Monday mornings.

Why did you want to a volunteer at HPHA and what do you like best about volunteering at the HPHA?

I like being helpful and enjoy meeting people. I have had to use the hospital a number of times myself and feel we are so fortunate to have a wonderful hospital!

When you aren't volunteering at HPHA, what do you like to do?

I like to go for walks, read, go for bike rides and enjoy our cottage.
