The primary goal of clinical nutrition services is prevention and treatment of nutrition related symptoms and/or disease.
Throughout the Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance (HPHA) a team of Registered Dietitians (RD) and Nutrition and Food Service Supervisors (NFSS) aim to provide effective, evidence-based nutritional assessment, advice and support to patients and their families. They translate nutrition science into practical information and advice about food.
-
RDs and NFSSs play an active role within the interprofessional team to develop clinically appropriate nutrition care plans.
-
RDs and NFSSs also work closely with nutrition and food services staff to ensure suitable therapeutic meals are provided to patients.
Clinical Nutrition Assistants are the key link between the RDs and the Nutrition & Food Services department, providing a continuum of care, which ensures that services are easily accessible and sensitive to individual dietary needs.
