Temporary Reduction in Hours/Closure of HPHA Emergency Departments

As a result of health human resource shortages several HPHA Emergency Departments will be temporarily reducing their hours and/or closing on the following dates:

St. Marys Memorial Hospital

  • July 8, 2022 – The Emergency Department will close at 5 p.m.
  • Regular hours of operation (24/7) will resume on July 9, 2022 at 7 a.m.
Clinton Public Hospital
  • July 11 2022 – The Emergency Department will be closed.
  • July 12, 2022 – The Emergency Department be open 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Regular reduced hours of operation (8 a.m. to 6 p.m.) will resume on July 13, 2022 at 8 a.m.
Seaforth Community Hospital
  • July 12, 2022 – The Emergency Department will close at 5 p.m.
  • July 13, 2022 – The Emergency Department be open 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • July 14, 2022 – The Emergency Department be open 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Regular hours of operation (24/7) will resume on July 15, 2022 at 7 a.m.
Anyone requiring immediate medical attention should call 9-1-1. Paramedics will remain available to the community and will re-route to the nearest available Emergency Department to ensure local residents continue to have access to the emergency services they need.

For non-urgent health care, call Health Connect Ontario at 811, which is available 24/7 for non-emergency health related questions. If you have a family doctor, you can also inquire about any same-day appointments or after-hours clinics.

St. Marys Memorial Hospital -the closest Emergency Departments are:
  • Stratford - HPHA – Stratford General Hospital
  • London – LHSC – University Hospital or Victoria Hospital
  • Ingersoll – Alexandra Hospital
Clinton Public Hospital - the closest Emergency Departments are:
  • Seaforth - HPHA – Seaforth Community Hospital - please note Seaforth's reduced hours on July 12.
  • Goderich – Alexandra Marine & General Hospital
  • Exeter – South Huron Hospital
  • Wingham – LWHA – Wingham & District Hospital
Seaforth Community Hospital - the closest Emergency Departments are:
  • Clinton - HPHA – Clinton Public Hospital - note Clinton Pubic Hospital Emergency Department is operating on reduced hours, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.  As noted above, on July 11 the Department is closed and on July 12 the Department closes at 2 p.m.
  • Goderich – Alexandra Marine & General Hospital
  • Exeter – South Huron Hospital
  • Stratford – HPHA– Stratford General Hospital

Increased demands in the healthcare system, exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic, are leading to healthcare vacancies. These pressures are expected to continue throughout the summer.
