Job Description:
The Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance's (HPHA) Outpatient Mental Health Program offers a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment where psychiatrists work alongside social workers and nurses. We are actively recruiting a Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist to provide consultation to patients on our waitlist in need of this service. Hours would be flexible based on your ability to support our patients. Office space/staff is provided in a location shared with our Psychiatry Department and at no cost. In addition, the option for virtual consultation is available.
Psychiatrists bill fee for service for their work, in addition, are eligible to receive sessional and stipend payments for non OHIP billable services.
As a consultant for our Child & Adolescent Psychiatry patients you will contribute to a team committed to delivering high-quality, evidence based care. Your role will include:
• Diagnostic clarification
• Pharmacotherapy & psychotherapy
• Collaborative care planning
Our dedicated Child & Adolescent clinician (MSW) will support you/your clients throughout their journey including through assessment and referral to other providers for service, as required.
HPHA maintains a strong partnership with the Huron Perth Centre for Children & Youth, an accredited, community-based mental health centre and the Lead Agency for child and youth mental health services in Huron and Perth Counties. This partnership enhances service integration and continuity of care for children, youth, and families across the region.
About the Huron Perth Centre
The Centre supports children and youth up to age 18, working closely with families and caring adults. Their approach focuses on:
• Assessing needs
• Building resilience
• Strengthening relationships
• Enhancing understanding
• Developing collaborative service plans
Our community prioritizes partnerships and collaboration to better serve our population from a mental health capacity. Our Huron Perth Mental Health and Addictions Alliance involves all key partners to a shared table to identify and support community need including a recent move to mapping our work from a Stepped Care Model/approach. We have funding and program opportunities to continue to build on our mental health outpatient and inpatient services here, and we would welcome a child/adolescent psychiatrist to support expanding our models and work to best support our local population. This is an area for much
growth and opportunity! About our Hospitals
HPHA is an Alliance of four hospitals located in Southwestern Ontario, including Clinton Public, Seaforth Community, St. Marys Memorial and Stratford General.
Stratford General Hospital is a 120+ bed hospital and the largest hospital in the HPHA. It is the regional referral centre for Huron and Perth County residents, offering a broad range of medical and surgical inpatient services including critical care and neo-natal intensive care, supported with internists, and surgical specialists such as ENT, ophthalmology, plastics, urology, general surgery and orthopedics. The Stratford site also provides mental health, maternal child, complex continuing care and rehabilitation inpatient services. We are a schedule 1 facility and have a 15 bed inpatient unit supported by 3 full time Psychiatrists (occupancy for 16+ on the unit).
